Xbox 360 - it had the right mix of fantastic console exclusives, multimedia capabilities, and a sleek ergenomic design. Plus, it was the last generation to not be oversaturated with microtransations (though we'll never forget Oblivion's Horse Armour).

For me, it's got to be the PS2. I just love it's Library, and i've grown up with a lot of classics from this library.

There's the GTA Trilogy (and the ports of the PSP Stories Games) with San Andreas being the best selling PS2 Games, but aside from that, I've also enjoyed the WWE Games, which, in my opinion, didn't get any better than this. MGS 2 and 3, not to mention the home console ports of Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken 4, and Tekken 5.

I'll always cherish this one.

For me it is definitly the PS2. This console was my childhood. To be fair, I also had a DSi, but most of the games I played the most were PS2 games.

It was the first console that introduced me to things like the Lego games with "LEGO Star Wars II". Also I played two of my all time favorite games on this platform: "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" and later (when I argued a lot with my parents and they allowed me as a 12 year old to buy a game with an age rating of 16) "Star Wars: Battlefront II".
Those games sparked my interest in games in general and are responsible for so many beautiful memorys playing with my frieds, siblings or alone. Beside the the above listed games were more like "Spiderman 3" oder "Need for Speed Most Wanted" (Which increased my interest for cars and machines and if want to see it like this led to the choice of my what I am studying at university now).

This console, played at first on an old CRT TV as old a I am, later changed to a first gen plasma TV is for me the definition of a great console:
Reasonable priced, fairly cheap games, a ton of different games for every kind of customer (From Battlefront II over Singstar, Final Fantasy to the Lego games) great controls, at least in most games and with nice bonus features like split screen (Younger sibling = Player 2, Me as the oldest always Player 1) or the possobility to lend games at the local library (at least here in germany our library had a huge amount of GBA, DS and PS2 games to borrow).

This console was a beast and still hast, till this day a special place besides my TV.

Playstation 2, hands down. The variety in the game library was incredible and most of the games still look visually amazing and rather timeless to this day. It's the perfect balance of "detailed, but not TOO detailed" graphics.

For me it has to be the playstation 2 the amount of great games released on that system is just down right Criminal, from GTA, MGS, timesplitters, silent hill and having not one or two but three iconic Platformers of jak, ratchet & clank and sly racoon. along with most licensed games being top tier as well such as the simpsons hit & run and pretty much every star wars game its hard to think of a console that comes close to meeting the greatness of the PS2 other than a backwards compatible PS3.

I got an Xbox One hoping for two games to come out: Alan Wake 2 and Fable 4. Neither came, but the birth of GamePass made the One by far the most fun I had exploring and experimenting with new games. The controller is still the standard controller I think of, and the emphasis on backwards compatibility when the PS4 dropped it meant we didn't have to abandon the past for the future.

Sure, it might have lacked a bit in exclusive AAA games, but it had nearly an unlimited library in Gamepass and some of the best indie exclusives with Cuphead and Ori too.

PS3 revision A. play your ps1, ps2, ps3 games. I know it has that one hardware issue, but everything after the 16-bit era had hardware issues.

PS2 had God of War 1 and 2. No need to say more.

Halo 5, Forza, Gears 5, some of the greatest games of all time. Add in the refined Kinect. It's the Xbox One because it really is the one to be the jumbo king to wear the Xbox crown on top of the pile of other consoles

It was either the switch or playstation 2 and i picked the playstation 2

After some thinking, the choice was obvious. I picked ps2. This was for multiple reasons.
1: At the time, it was THE most affordable dvd player, to the point that the best selling thing for ps2 at the Japanese launch wasn't a game or an accessory, but the matrix on dvd because almost everyone who bought a ps2 bought a copy of the matrix with it.
2: the library of games is, to this very day, the best a sony console has ever had, from classics like ratchet & clank 3, god of war 2, shadow of the colossus, & many others, to hidden gems like dark cloud 2, the mark of kri, siren, among many more, to great 3rd party exclusives like devil may cry 3, tekken tag tournament, the adventures of cookies & cream, and so much more.
3: it killed the dreamcast, which sucks because i love that console too.
4: Backward compatibility with the ps1 library of games. You could still play gems like final fantasy vii, tekken 3, & ape escape, for example, if you didn't like the new games, or discover new favorites very easily.
5: the online capabilities. I personally never got to experience this, but many people enjoyed playing games like socom 3, resident evil: outbreak, & wwe smackdown vs raw online & had a blast.
6: Its affordability was so strong that to this very day, its not only the highest grossing game consoles of all time, but 1 of the longest running consoles of all time, lasting almost 13 years before support ended, making it to a few months before the release of the PLAYSTATION 4!
Overall, the ps2 has a legacy that looms over gaming to this very day & respect should be put on its name forever more.

I've had every major console since the 6th generation except for the WiiU and the Xbox Series. I actually prefered Sony since the PlayStation 4 and was tempted to just take the Ps5 because the Dual Sense is so amazing but I decided to go for the Xbox 360: it was the first console with HD graphics, it was the first one to introduce an achievement system and it was the first one with wireless controllers. All three things that I would not want to miss nowadays. Other than that I think the fat lady PS3 is one of the best consoles to have since you can play PS1, PS2 and PS3 titles, DVDs and (3D) BluRays making it far superior to the PS2 BUT its launch price was a disaster and thats to big of a bummer when considering things in retrospective
